You're handing over your Social Security number and everything you earned last year. Here's exactly what happens to it.
Everything you upload goes into an encrypted system built for this purpose. Not my email, not my laptop's desktop, not a shared drive.
Only me. Every time your file is opened, the system records who opened it and when.
Stored encrypted and hidden by default, even from me. Shown only when it's actually needed to prepare or file your return, and every reveal is logged.
I use software that reads your tax documents automatically so I don't have to retype them. Two things worth knowing:
Your Social Security number is removed before any document is processed by that software. It never sees it.
The AI does not decide anything about your taxes. It reads documents and flags what looks missing. Every number that lands on your return is reviewed by me against the original document, and I'm the one who signs it. The software is a very fast pair of eyes, not a decision-maker.
As a paid tax preparer I'm bound by IRS and Federal Trade Commission rules on protecting client information. That includes a Written Information Security Plan, which I have and keep current. I don't sell your information, and I don't share it with anyone except as needed to file your return or as required by law.
Seven years, which is what the IRS expects, then it's permanently deleted.
If you get a call like that claiming to be from me or the IRS, hang up and call me at PLACEHOLDER_PHONE.
